ArtsBridge charges nothing for the services of its scholars. The host institution is responsible for providing a supervising teacher who is always present during scholars’ sessions, who will participate actively in the work as agreed between teacher and scholar, and who will give us a written evaluation at the end of the project.
ArtsBridge classes and workshops are usually designed for approximately 20 to 30 pupils and for sixteen contact hours—often arranged for eight weeks, for meetings of one to two hours at a time. Special projects that do not conform to these hours or numbers of sessions will also be considered. Schedules are negotiated between the scholar and the host teacher. Sessions must take place within the school day.
Teachers can apply to ArtsBridge by submitting a host request form by applying online and sending by fax or by mail. ArtsBridge requires two names on your application form so we are assured that both the host teacher and the host organization desire and will commit to the responsibilities associated with being assigned a project. The classroom teacher and the school principal will guarantee that space, time, and equipment will be available for the duration of the project.
Requests will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Not every request can be satisfied; assignments are based on our funding and availability of scholars who can conduct the types of workshops requested. Due to funding requirements, low-performing schools are given priority for scholar placement. Requests that are not filled for the fall quarter will receive first priority for the winter quarter.
